So now you're on the Links page, the page with all the links to other Lord of the Rings sites. It's not hard to follow. Which is more than I can say for the Trilogy itself, LOL. Just kidding. Actually, the only thing that takes a little studying are names of the characters and the names of the places within Middle Earth. Mr. Tolkien had a rather vast and complex imagination. But fear not! That's what some of these links will help you with. (For some reason as I write this I am getting De ja Vu. I guess that happens a lot when you don't have a life.) Oh well, no matter. Enjoy the links!
Serious Links: Facts and Guides to the Trilogy- Learn all you can about LotR!
The Lord of the Rings Official Movie Site from New Line
This is the official site of the Trilogy. Lots of ads and everything is copyrighted. It's a good example of Captalism if you are doing a report on government.
Tolkien-Movies.Com
All kinds of stuff on the movies. There are polls, lots of images, a forum and a hobbit genological tree, should you ever need one. Most of the info is archived in articles.
theonering.net
This site has everything - and I do mean everything - portaining to The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It has information on the characters, cast, news etc. And unlike the official sites, it's not all that commercial either.
The Council of Elrond
This site is fabulous and has a fantastic transcript of The Return of the King. It's also really easy to navigate and read and loads fast.
Lord of the Rings Fanatics Site
On this site they give a little background on Tolkien's works. But the cool feature here is the guided tour of Middle Earth. This will definitely help you figure out all those confusing places and people.
Ringbearer.org
According to the name, it should focus almost entirely on Frodo, but let's not split hairs. This is another popular one. You have to sign up to get in. I like their poll about which RotK poster is your favorite.
Also if you need to chat, you can do it live, here. They also have a message board.
I dare not add my Parody to their Fan Fic section though, lol.
Ringzone.net
The name kind of sounds like a cross between the horror flick The Ring starring Naomi Watts and The Dead Zone, a Christopher Walkin classic. But I'm just being overly critical, because I do that. Otherwise this site is really great, there are lots of articles and images and weekly polls.
The Quintessential Lord of the Rings
Yes, the name fits. Photos sorted by scenes of the movies and the actual scripts. Talk about your blow by blow descriptions.
War of the Ring
Movie photos, fan fic, downloads, and about everything else you might need. Highly recommended.
The Barrow Downs
Interesting and a little different from the other sites. This one has less to do with the movie and more to do with Middle Earth and its inhabitants as Tolkien portrayed them. This is a very in-depth site, almost cultural regarding Middle Earth. This is pretty intense and not for beginners of Tolkein's work. (but you can also get a Hobbit/Elvish/Dwarvish etc name from their generator)
Map of Middle Earth
To fully appreciate the story, you first must know where in the hell Frodo, Sam, Gandalf and the rest of the Fellowship are wandering around. This map will show you at a glance all the towns in Middle Earth, their proximity to eachother, whether East or West, etc. And if there's one thing I love, it's a map of a place that doesn't exist.
Elvish Language
You can learn a little about the Elvish languages, Quenya and Sindarin as well as the writing style, Tengwar, here. It's a beautiful language and the writing is lovely too, but it's damn confusing.
Fan Fic and Parodies. Nothing's more fun than poking fun at Rings
The Mithril Awards for Tolkien Fanfiction
This amazing site offers nominations and awards for ALL kinds of fan fiction, from comedy to drama to erotica etc. The ratings range from PG up to NC-17.
The Secret Diaries of Cassandra Claire
This is SO funny, I was seriously in pain from laughing. My eyes were watering, even. In this parody, each character has a diary that was kept between the time the Fellowship was established at Rivendell up til the end of the first movie. It is truly hysterical. You gotta read this shit.
Fan Fiction at Party First
Fan fic rated G all the way up to NC-17. Something for everyone.
Lord of the Peeps
Peeps Marshmallow Bunnies act out scenes from The Fellowship of the Ring. No, I'm not kidding.
Other Somewhat Bizarre Things: Theres no end to the details of this Trilogy.
Tig Fanlisting
The listing is closed to new members, but you can still read about "Tig" and its hundreds of endless rules. It's incredibly silly, but the origin is kind of cute.
Lembas Bread Recipe
You gotta have at least one recipe to round out this potpourri of Rings Mania. Lembas is the Elvish Waybread that they eat for energy in both the books and the movies. This is the recipe as adapted by a fan. I'll make mine sans the almonds since I have an allergy. Fortunately, I can borrow my mom's pizelle iron as long as it's not too close to Christmas time.
Suicide Queen's Lord of the Rings
