Celebrity Dream Blog: 4/06/04 "Faking Out the Witch King"
Special Guest Stars: Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf the White, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins and the Witch King as himself.
Yes, I know another Lord of the Rings dream. I don't do it on purpose, I swear! I think by keeping this Blog I'm subconsiously feeding fuel to the fire, but hey, there are worse hobbies.
This dream is an off-shoot of another dream before it, which is too weird and complicated to really get into.
I was walking into a large cave-like room with Gandalf and Frodo a few paces behind me. I was thinking to myself about how we were almost to our destination. Then, in front of me about fifty feet away I saw the tall dark figure of the Witch King. He was very ominous looking, just like he looked in the movie, only he had a long black cape trimmed in red material. When I saw him I said, "Oh no, this isn't supposed to happen..."
Somehow the three of us, Gandalf, Frodo and I scrambled within seconds to figure out what to do, since we knew the Witch King had already seen us. Frodo was sitting under a dead tree in the cave with Gandalf and I ran across the cave and sat under another tree and hid. I'd taken the Ring from Frodo, because we assumed the Witch King knew he had it and I was trying to keep it safe.
The Witch King entered the cave and first went over to the tree where Frodo and Gandalf were. He confronted Frodo, looking for the Ring and once he was sure that he did not have it, he headed over to the tree where I was. I held the Ring up to my lips and was desperately trying to remember something in Elvish that might make the Witch King leave. So I started to say "Ash nazg dubartuluk..." and as I was saying that I realized that was the Black Speech inscription and would only make things worse. I was grasping for some kind of invocation that would help, but didn't know of anything. I was shaking and trying to think quick as the Witch King aproached me on the round bench I was sitting on under the tree. I put the Ring in a silver octogon-shaped locket. It had a blue enamal design and a dark blue gem in the center. It was really unique and beautiful. The locket had a chain and I put the whole thing around the neck of a teddy bear, that I somehow had. I did this just before the Witch King confronted me, so he didn't see me do it.
When he did confront me, I felt he must have been drawn by the Ring's power. I stood anxiously and waited, wondering how I would get out of this.
Gandalf and Frodo noticed that I was being confronted, and ran up to be by my side as if they were ready to help defend me against the Witch King.
The Witch King motioned for me to let him search my belongings. At this point I was more aware of myself, and what I was wearing. I was wearing a long peasant-style dress and my hair was like a very light golden brown, long and wavy and tied loosely in a pony tail.
I sort of crouched on the round bench beneath the tree, over the teddy bear that wore the locket with the One Ring inside. I wanted to hand it to Gandalf, but the Witch King was right there, standing over us. I carefully broke the chain by twisting it so it came off the teddy bear's neck. I realized this had drawn attention to it. The Witch King looked over and asked, "What's that?"
I held the locket up by its chain and said, "It's a locket. It belonged to my mother." I tried to make it sound sort of casual, like I didn't know what he would want with it, since it was not what he was seeking.
The Witch King sort of looked in the direction of the locket and I could tell he was a bit suspicious. As he continued to search my belongings, I looked over at Gandalf who appeared to be asleep, with his eyes open, staring off into the distance. I had the locket cupped in my hand, casually, hiding it from the Witch King. I rested my head on Gandalf's arm as he lay there, pretending that I was exhausted. Frodo was standing right there, too on my right. I quickly snuck the locket into the pocket of Gandalf's robe. The second I did so, the Witch King stood back up from looking through my things and although he couldn't find the One Ring, he demanded that we give him everything we had.
Gandalf sat up and reached into his pocket, then handed the locket to the Witch King. I had only hoped that somehow Gandalf had done what I thought he'd done. But at the moment, I didn't know.
The Witch King held the locket and shook it, and we could hear the Ring inside. He then thought he had found what he wanted, took the locket with the Ring inside, and left.
We were releaved that he was gone and Gandalf and I smiled and breathed a sigh of relief. Frodo rushed up to me. He was terribly distressed. I reached out my arms out to him and said, "Oh, I love you." I grabbed him and hugged him. I was saying something like, "It's okay, he's gone, we're safe now." I put my right hand on his head and kissed his face through his soft curls. I was still shaking, full of adrenalin.
When we pulled apart, Frodo looked at me, with tears in his eyes and said something like, "He got the Ring..." meaning the Witch King had taken it. I wasn't sure, so I looked at Gandalf.
Gandalf, being the mysterious Wizard type he is, stood casually to my left and smiled. He took my left hand and pressed the Ring into my palm. It was then that I realized he HAD done exactly what I was hoping. He'd replaced the One Ring that I hid in the locket with a fake ring, and that was what the Witch King ended up with. I smiled and put my right hand on Frodo's arm.
"Look," I said, placing the Ring into his hand.
Frodo smiled and laughed and the three of us looked at eachother, happily, knowing that we had successfully faked out the Witch King. The rest was now up to Frodo to destroy the One Ring. (And if you saw the movie you all know what a good job he did of doing THAT! LOL. Sorry, just a bit of Rings sarcasm.)
The next scene of the dream took place not too far from the tree, in the same cave. Things were a little brighter and Gandalf wanted to get a picture of Frodo and I together. At this point I was wearing different clothes and my hair was down and bleached blonde with purple streaks in it. Sort of emo, I suppose. LOL. Anyway, Frodo was still dressed like Frodo. I put my arm around him so the photographer could take the picture. I guess Gandalf wasn't good at taking photos or something. I was thinking about how I couldn't wait to put the picture up on my web site.
Thank God the dream ended there before it could get sillier. I like the first part though, with the Witch King. Apart from the teddy bear, it was pretty true to the kind of setting the movie was in.
